Home office solutions enable them to work effectively in a team, without being tied to a specific desk or filing cabinet. The individual scope this provides can make it much easier for them to balance their private and working lives.

Cross-site working
Answering e-mails from a cell phone, mobile access to the Internet via a laptop or attending virtual meetings from a home PC – solutions that make mobile working possible are already part of everyday work for many employees. Deutsche Telekom continues to drive developments in this field in order to make it easier for people to network their work and leisure time activities. Today's workers can simply put the entire office in their trouser pockets on a special USB flash drive from T-Systems. The drive can be used to establish a secure connection to the corporate network from any computer, thereby enabling work to be carried out anytime and anywhere.

People can even collaborate on teams in virtual project rooms. Meetings are held in tap-proof conference rooms and team members can work together on the same plans, drafts and documents in a protected online room without needing to travel. This enables teams to be built with members from all over the world. The vital prerequisite for cross-site working is overall coverage with stable broadband networks. This is one reason why Deutsche Telekom continues to invest in high-speed Internet expansion.

Internet on the railtrack
T-Mobile operates the largest transatlantic WLAN network in the world. HotSpots at over 8,000 locations in Germany and at 40,000 sites around the world provide users with mobile Internet access. To make it possible to combine travel and work effectively, 50 of Deutsche Bahn's high-speed ICE trains offer users access to a WLAN network. In the course of the year, another 20 ICE trains are scheduled to be equipped with this technology.

T-Mobile UK is cooperating with the Nomad Digital and Southern Trains rail organizations to put high-speed Internet on the rails in Britain. Broadband WLAN platforms have been set up in trains run by the Southern Trains company on the route between London and Brighton.

The Heathrow Express offers a WiFi network on board, which was developed by T-Mobile UK and Nomad Digital. The network is even stable in the 6 km tunnel that lies along the route. This enables many commuters to use their time more effectively – so that they do not miss out on family life and free time.
